Sunny, You're living someones dream.
This statement from one of my friend made me realize the importance of the trip to US.
It was a sudden plan and we just decided to go, booked the tickets, reserved the hotel and just left. This time it was the United States of America. Looking at the history of my journey, I was ready to add new good/bad experiences.
The journey began early morning of 10th March, 2016. It all started with the negative feeling of something wrong again in my visa/passport. Though being over cautious helped with the ray of hope and I got my boarding pass in just couple of minutes (unlike for trip to Qatar).
The first stop for transit was Paris. I so much wished to see Eiffel tower. Though I could not see that time, I saw it while returning. Thanks to the captain who woke me up with his voice early morning and asked to look outside for Eiffel tower. Beautiful!
It was the first time I experienced jet lag and slept whole day. It took couple of days to adjust. Thank god, I had 3 days of vacation before joining office there. Clock changed again due to DST on March 13th.
Kansas is a beautiful city with calmness and peace. One would prefer to spend their post retirement days over there. Over the weekends, I visited World War I museum where I got a chance to understand the causes and effects of the deadly war. I also visited County Plaza which was a beautiful shopping place with awesome building. I think it was European architecture all around.
25 days stay in Kansas City was pretty good. I met amazing people over there and it was a great learning experience with sharing of knowledge from both end. I visited 3 campus of Cerner during my stay, Innovation campus, Continuous campus and WHQ. Also, it was a proud moment to win in Top Golf.
In Kansas, I experienced the first snowfall and it was amazing. I also visited few places during my leisure time, namely, Legends, Burlington, Macys, Thai food, Kutlery, ihop, downtown, etc. Thanks to Indu Kumar who helped us to explore different places and told us about US culture, traffic rules.
Kansas experience would be incomplete without mentioning 'cops chasing me' story. After learning traffic rules on youtube, I started to drive. On my way to legends cops started chasing me. When I thought of stooping, my friend Arsad and Majied said it's not for us. I realized very soon that's it's for us and stopped. Unfortunately, it was for breaking the rule of low speed. Damn it! Yes, it was for low speed at one lane. Luckily the cop didn't give the ticket. He left with initial warning.
After the work was completed successfully in Kansas, we headed to the world of Hollywood, Los Angeles. It was warm and the city was beautiful. As soon as we reached, we visited Venice beach. In our way to Venice, the uber cab driver explained us about the city. We crossed through Beverly hills, saw all big brands and covered all important places of LA on our way. The view of Pacific ocean was amazing. The beach was very clean and people all around were relaxing and enjoying their weekends.
Our hotel was next to Hollywood Boulevard. It is the most happening place I have ever witnessed in my life. Street full of people in joyful mood. We walked a lot on the Walk of Fame. We visited Madame Tussaud's wax museum and Academy Award's place, Dolby Theater.
The next day we visited Universal studios and saw various movie sets like Fast and Furious, The mummy returns, Transformer, minions, etc. Experienced all the rides available, saw animal actors and live action stunts too. The Harry Potter set was the most eye catching part of the studio.
After LA, we started our bus journey to Las Vegas. It's the city that wakes up late night. We stayed in the tallest hotel Stratosphere. The view of the city was amazing from the top. The Vegas Strip was full of casinos and hotels. Vegas was for creating secrets and keeping them there because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
A day trip to Grand Canyon to see the nature's wonder was worth. Amazing rock formations and beautiful scenic view kept me by - Wow. It is a MUST visit place and Hover dam on the way is the finest example of excellent architecture which took 5 years just to design.
After Vegas, our final destination in US was New York City. It was the best city I have ever seen. Visit to NYC was special as I met my dearest friends Mrigank, Sahil, Ankita, Palak (being the best guide).
Visited all important places like Times Square, WTC, Statue of Liberty, Wall street, Brooklyn bridge, etc. Walking on the streets late night singing old hindi songs was really amazing.
It was little emotional moment to leave US at the end because I wanted to spend more time with my sweethearts.
Well, the short and sweet trip of a month will stay into my memories forever and will be more than happy to relive those wonderful memories created again and again!!
Eagerly waiting for the next adventurous trip...
